2024/9/20, Friday: Women's Epee with 96 participants. Pools with 7 people, won 3 out of 6 matches. Ranked 45th after pools. At elimination/knockout rounds, ended up losing 15-10 in the rounds of 64. (Placed 46th)
Journal: For this competition, I didn't put a lot of pressure on myself. Because I know that this is an adult competition, so I didn't really aim to get top 8. But instead to just do my best and treat it as a practice and have fun. Before the pools, when I was looking at the name list, it is when I got serious and created a goal for myself. Out of 6 people in the pools, I knew and have fenced 3 of them. So, I set a goal of winning at least 2-3 of them.
The pools started really well; well, I say better than the last two competitions in Tainan. (Same place, last week) What I mean by better is that I can actually plan what to do and do out the movements like I expect it to. A week earlier at the same place, sometimes the aim of my sword went over the fencer's head or just missed completely. Also, my lunges and attacks weren't fully out but were halfway out. I think the reason of that is because last week's competition is U17, so I expect myself to do better. And because of that and the pressure I put on myself, I sometimes got really nervous during the round and worried too much causing my performance to turn out not the way I expected.
After the pools, it's the round of 128. But since my friends and I were at the top, we didn’t need to fence this round. (Ranked 45 after pools.) After round 128 was done, it was the round of 64. And guess who my opponent is. She's one of our coaches from our club. I knew my competition was over. So, for the round of 64, I just did my best and had fun while I was fencing.
